The Finnish Steel Prize 2016
Teracon was responsible for the project’s main structural design and steel construction design. The production plans for the concrete and steel structures were also included in the design contract. The building complex consists of two circular buildings, the larger of which forms the visitor centre with a floor area of 2,800m², coming in to view first when arriving at the Fazer’s office and factory area.
The Rose for Building 2016
Teracon was commissioned by the developer to design the actual sauna building and the steel structures for the free-form wooden cloak that covers the sauna building. In addition to this, we separately modelled each individual plank made from heat-treated pine for the cloak, including any bevels and holes. The cloak’s load bearing steel structure chiefly consists of triangles, most of which are directly supported by the foundation.

Teracon was the project’s chief designer. The project design included delivering the structural component plans for the concrete elements and steel structures. The project’s construction work started in autumn 2016. The Saimaa Stadium Arena was completed in 2018. This is a multipurpose arena built at Kalevankangas, Mikkeli providing facilities for physical fitness exercise, training, sports events, trade fairs, public concerts and wellbeing at work days.
