We have been designing durable structural solutions for more than 25 years in cooperation with various steel structure suppliers, developers and construction companies. Our cost-effective solutions, high-level competence and fast quotation calculation services help the clients reach their targets economically and on schedule.

Our designers are qualified for exceptionally demanding steel structure design (the FISE competence register) with a strong expertise in concrete structure design. We use the best software on the market for information modelling and calculations, and also develop design tools of our own. We have a steely competence!

The company was established in Tampere, Finland, in 1992. The name Teracon was not acceptable as such for entry in the trade register, so the initial letters of the founder’s name Seppo Salo, were added as a prefix. Seppo had been a partner in Havaka Oy, a company that went bankrupt as the result of a preceding recession, and Seppo was compelled to look for work through his family company. Thanks to his previously established good contacts, his previous junior colleague and current partner, Pasi Koivisto, business activities were given a kick-start. Initially, the company focused on the design of steel structure product components which characterised the precision and producibility of Teracon’s corporate culture from the very beginning.

Teracon has always endeavoured to develop efficient design processes. During the first 10 years we made our plans with the aid of the Autocad software and our self-made automatic list templates. In 2001, we swiftly transferred to using 3d-design and adopted the Tekla Xsteel software (currently Tekla Structures). We were soon among the first to utilise information modelling and continuously strive to stay there through our on-going development work. Structural calculations and structural optimisation are essential elements of product component design in the bidding phase. This is a calculation culture that we also transferred to the other areas of our structural design. In our company, all structures are dimensioned to exactly comply with the forthcoming load values. This means that we save our clients’ expense without compromising on our own contribution!

With the growth of our company, our endeavour has always been to serve our clients better and to offer holistic structural design services.
